ChipCHECK
AT-LINE CHIP
ANALYSIS

ChipCHECK EMPOWERS YOUR
MAINTENANCE CREW TO CONDUCT CHIP ANALYSES, IMMEDIATELY ON-SITE.

When a chip collection device has captured a chip in the oil flow, ChipCHECK is the fastest way to make on-site equipment maintenance decisions. ChipCHECK provides maintainers with quick, reliable, and conclusive information within minutes.

Empowers maintenance crews to make faster decisions

  • Provides easy-to-use, at-line automated quantitative debris analysis in minutes: simply insert the chips and press “Go”
  • No need to send samples away or wait for lab analysis
  • Small portable device can be used in field deployment

Improved flight readiness and reduced maintenance costs

  • Helps eliminate unplanned engine and gearbox events
  • Cuts costs of NEOF (no evidence of failure) overhauls and lab delays
  • Provides an accurate analysis of damage to enable appropriate maintenance action

How ChipCHECK Works

ChipCHECK uses Gastops proprietary laser spectroscopy technology to analyze chips and measure proven reliable indications of component damage: chip size, chip count, and metal alloy identification. Confirming component and location of wear by comparing data to our extensive library of metal alloys, it delivers a conclusive analysis in minutes.

During Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in conjunction with Defence Science & Technology (DST) and the Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) successfully validated ChipCHECK for immediate, automated chip analyses onsite (either at base or deployed).

Chip Analysis Services

Our chip analysis service, available with a Service Maintenance Agreement, offers increased functionality for customers that choose to connect their ChipCHECK instrument to our portal.  These enhancements include the ability to view historical records of their chip analyses, setup automatic report distribution to key stakeholders within their organization, and the ability to upload their chip analyses reports from outside laboratories to have a single repository of maintenance date for their entire fleet.

Connecting directly to stakeholders responsible for asset disposition is yet another way that ChipCHECK helps to streamline operations.  As an additional benefit of the service, immediate customer support is available without the need to transfer data if problems are encountered with the ChipCHECK unit itself.

ChipCHECK Alloy Library

The new ChipCHECK Alloy Library more than doubles the number of engine wear debris material types that can be detected by ChipCHECK and now covers most of the commercial aircraft engines including those manufactured by CFMI, General Electric, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney and IAE.

Engine Coverage includes:

  • CFM56
  • LEAP
  • PW1000G
  • V2500
  • GP7000
  • PW4000
  • GE90
  • GEnx
  • Trent 700/900
  • And Others

Application Guides coming soon – please contact us for specific requests or if your engine is not listed here.

“ChipCHECK is able to help immediately identify debris and determine the potential effects on engine operation. We can then make effective decisions in the shortest possible time.”
