Charity Challenge – The Energizer Battery keeps going and going, however GasTOPS in Ottawa keeps giving and giving……
 
Ottawa, Canada (09 November 2006): - Giving to charities has become more challenging for donors in recent years. You have to take into account the reasons you have given in the past and continue in the future:

What are your reasons:

- Your emotional tug – You feel very strongly about the cause?
- You consider it morally important to give?
- You want to help your community?
- Your friends and family need your help and support and you want to be responsive?
- You simply want a tax benefit?

This is the vision with one small company in Ottawa, GasTOPS LTD. When presented with a challenge, this company shows it’s large heart. For more than 25 years, GASTOPS has provided advanced sensors, integrated control and monitoring systems, portable maintenance aids, intelligent software systems and engineering know-how to the Defense, Aerospace, Energy and Marine industries world-wide.

In early October the employees at GasTOPS were presented with a challenge. They were asked by the Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s President, Susan Doyle, to consider helping the community by donating to the Foundation so that they may purchase new equipment for area hospitals. One of the needs was the purchase of a Styker Stretcher Chair, at a cost of $10,000.00, and GasTOPS went above and beyond this goal amount.

GasTOPS was able to raise, for The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, $24,476.00, in under 3 weeks, while additionally having the ability to contribute $2,529.00 to the United Way. More than 75% of the company’s 88 employees pledged to donate something to the campaign. An additional incentive for raising so much was, for every dollar raised to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, the government would provide $1.60.

With that said, in total GasTOPS raised $63,637.60 for The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
