Land Based Support Facility
At GasTOPS, we are experts in supporting advanced machinery control and monitoring systems. For example, the Integrated Machinery Control System (IMCS) is a distributed warship platform control system fitted in the surface combatant fleet of the Canadian Navy. When the Navy examined options for long-term in-service support for the system software, they turned to GasTOPS to provide the solution. GasTOPS maintains the software using a specialized shore-based software support facility built to Navy specifications, incorporating a program generation and high fidelity test environment.
Software maintenance includes problem analysis and resolution, software development and testing and shipboard installation and sea trials. GasTOPS further assists the Navy with software configuration management, Technical Data Package preparation, modification and configuration management. All procedures are fully compliant with the requirements of ISO 9000, DOD-STD-2167 and DOD-STD-973 for software development and configuration management.
GasTOPS has been involved almost from the beginning of the IMCS design, working closely with the Navy and other industry partners to contribute to the successful implementation of a new concept in warship platform control. The IMCS controls critical propulsion machinery such as LM2500 marine gas turbines, propulsion diesel engines, power generation gas turbines and diesels, as well as the complete range of ancillary and auxiliary equipment and systems. The IMCS provides bridge and MCR control of ships manoeuvring and propulsion power, as well as continuous monitoring, alarm, and equipment health conditions.
